SUPERJOINT RITUAL's PHILIP ANSELMO: We Are A Substance Band

May 11, 2002

SUPERJOINT RITUAL frontman Philip Anselmo recently spoke to Billboard magazine about the group's upcoming debut, Use Once And Destroy (due through Sanctuary Records on May 21st) and the band's planned US tour, which is scheduled to kick off on June 7th in Atlanta, Georgia.

"Basically, it's a bunch of guys with a love of the music that came out of the mid-to-late '80s that miss it terribly and hear what is going on today," Anselmo stated about SUPERJOINT RITUAL's musical approach. "We want to get back the f***in' balls and the reality of the music that was coming out back then. Not dressed up, not image before substance. We're a substance band."

As for what the fans can expect from the group's live show, Anselmo indicated that it will mirror the band's studio intensity. "Not a lot of gimmicks," Philip offered. "Basically, just music and energy from guys that mean it. Just back down to the true roots of what music is."
